[MFJ-Ameritron] ? RE 949E Ant Tuner

I have this unit for sale but I'm a bit confused by the various listings 
for the 949E
I saw one at   e b with a picture that was clearly a Vectronics paint  
job. I wonder if they dropped this
trade name ? It had the mfj logo and product number.
Also I downloaded the manual for a better schematic copy as the original 
was REALLY poor.
(PDF was much superior).
Further, noted today at their web site a picture of this unit "Deluxe 
Versa Tuner II"
that has an entirely different inductor setup pictured than mine. The 
picture at MFJ is a simple coil on
end with a switch for inductance values. Mine has a coil but it's more 
like a variac in design
with a shaft to the back end and a wiper contact to select values.
Looks like a design change but which is better??  I suspect what I have 
is the latest but wonder
if there was a fault with this series?
Anyone got an idea about this. Just curious.
