Percy,
I would steer clear of the MFJ-269. I am on my second unit, and it is
going back for another exchange. The first unit would not enter the UHF
mode at all, and the counter was off by about 4 MHz. MFJ sent me a new
replacement unit which worked fine for about nine months, then would not
switch out of UHF no matter what I did with the switches! I've been trying
for weeks the reach someone at the tech support line, but always get a busy
signal. I have sent three e-mails over the past several months, but got no
reply.
Although perhaps half of the MFJ products I have bought were returned
within a few months for replacement, the half that I kept are still working
well. My MFJ-434 Voice Keyer has worked flawlessly through a 36-hour
special event with every operator using it. On the other hand, the
MFJ-1270C TNC I just received was found to have a defective PROM- only some
of the commands worked.
You get what you pay for, and you can't get ham at hot dog prices. Pass on
the MFJ-269, and buy an AEA 140-525 Analyst. I did- and now I wish I had
not spent money on the 269!
