I was listening on 2m this evening and all was well.
After finishing a QSO, I turned off the radio and
diconnected my SSB DCW-15B sequencer to test a preamp
I had picked up. During the entire successful test of
the new preamp, the sequencer was just sitting on the
desk with no connections to power, to the antenna, to
anything. After the preamp test, I reconnected the
sequencer and it does not work. Power is not being
supplied to the SP-2000 preamp on the mast. The
yellow line voltage light comes on, but the green and
red Power Amp and Pre-Amp lights are not on. If the
Power Amp switch is turned off, the yellow line
voltage light gets dim.
At first I assumed that I must have reconnected
something incorrectly or that something in the
connecting cables must have come loose or shorted.
Double checked all connections and connectors and they
seem OK. Tried using a different plug and different
power supply, no change. Tried disconnecting all
cables except for the +13v, still the same. Opened
the sequencer and checked the fuse, it is OK.
It's very hard to believe that something internal went
bad by coincidence at the exact time of the
disconnection and reconnection, but I'm starting to
fear that that's what happened. I can't work any more
EME unless I can get this thing to work.
What could be wrong?
Thanks for any tips and 73,
Bill NZ5N
