Recently a number of (nasty) remarks were issued via the DX cluster about OE
and DL stations
using wrong periods (possibly also stations from other countries as well). I
can not understand
what is so difficult about it.
The IARU procedure clearly states :
"If possible, northbound and westbound transmissions should be made in
periods 1, 3 5 etc.
counting from the full hour. Southbound and eastbound transmissions should
be made in periods 2,4
6 etc."
(source : IARU region 1 VHF Managers Handbook, chapter 5b - 3, last amended
in 2002, San Marino)
So, effectively this means that QTF between 45 and 225 degrees means second
periods, while QTF
between 225 and 45 means first periods.
If there is any reason for ammending the procedure, please contact your VHF
manager,
but PLEASE DO NOT START USING YOUR OWN PROCEDURES on the calling frequency !
....and before putting a nasty message in the cluster, please consider that
the station ight be calling
in the opposite direction, and thus using the right periods....
