Hi everybody,
being late as always (sri!) I would like to anounce our Perseids activity,
from August 11 to 14, 2003.

This year Ulli, DL3YEL, and myself are planning to go to JO39, mainly for 2
m MS operation, but will have 6 m equipment as well. We will use the
callsign LA0BY/p on 2 m and LA/DL3YEL on 6 m. The site is high up on the
mountains and will have good horizon from SE-SSW (and North - watch out for
Aurora). As there will be no 230 V mains available we may have to operate
with 180 W RF power only, into 2 x 9-ele-yagis. Alternatively we may run
about 500 W from Ulli's 8874 PA powered by generator.

We will stay on the frequency 144,188 MHz for both sked and random operation
in HSCW/SSB. For WSJT operation (only random outside the maximum) we will
use 144,388 MHz. The maximum of the shower is estimated for 23:30 UTC on
August 12, and we will operate only random SSB about +/- 8 hours from the
maximum. In HSCW we will transmit with 1500 lpm, using 2,5 min periods and
the callsign will be abbreviated to LAYBYP. In SSB we will use 1 min periods
with breaks every 10-15 s. Normally we will transmit the second (odd)
period.

We will investigate possibilities to operate from another site with better
take-off to the East before or after the maximum. Any eastern
(OH/ES/YL/LY/UA3, etc.) stations should indicate their interest for a sked
([email protected]). Note the site has no GSM coverage. Further updates will
follow on this site: http://www.qsl.net/la0by/dxped.htm
