Hello All,

Eckart sent me a summary report, please see below.

EA7/DJ4UF/P (IM96BW) reports about his MS-Activity on 8/9 February
2003:

This expedition was arranged at relatively short notice which explains
there were no announcements. The QTH down there in IM96 was relatively
good: free line of sight from about 020 =96 035 deg and from 045 =96 070
deg. Sadly there were a chain of mountains straight to the North so
working UK was very very difficult. In fact, none of the QSOs with
G-stations could be completed.=20

All the time we had strong winds so I had to tie the antenna with ropes
to prevent it from moving. Later I decided to fix it at 30 deg as there
were no answers to my cq-calls to 050 deg. Later when I drove back home
to my second QTH in JM08BR where my wife Brigitta DH4KYL and I live
from from October to May every year we looked around to find a better
suited place but there was none. So the UK is only possible via
sidescatter, and for that you need a nice shower to be successful in an
apropriate amount of time.

>From time to time I managed to connect to the DX-cluster via
HF(Pactor-Gateway). As the HF-traffic interferred with my VHF-reception
I could not stay permanently connected.

If some stations would have waited for current QSOs to be finished
before calling in this may have speeded up the process: If I send a
report - or even worse - a roger-report to a particular station I don=92t
want to be permanently called by someone else. If you hear me good
enough to know I=92m there, you sure see that I=92m in QSO then. So please
wait for the RRRs or 73s before starting to call.

For those who didn=92t work me this time there is a perspective: I plan
to go there again some time this year, maybe in November.

Equipment: Kenwood TS2000, 4CX250B (about 300 watts), 9 ele TONNA and
MGF1302 preamplifier, WSJT 3.0.
