Hi....
BCC contest is worked and after few days we operators will be again back in
the land of the living. My liver can still whiste fsk441 without problem...
No anyway expedition was very interesting and we even made some qsos.
11th afternoon we started to drive from St Petersburg about 450km south. QTH
was parents Juri, RZ1AP Igors workmete. Juris mother Tatjana made great
care for us during hole expedition. QTH was in countryside and up on hill.
100% free takeoff from 180-270 degree, and other QTF's also not too bad.
Setup we made in the "banja" (russian sauna) and 0013 utc 1st qso was
already in the log. Last one 14th 1015utc because monday was QRL day for
most of us. Log will be published after 31th January 2004 when is stopdate
for BCC contest, just 55 C qsos and few NC.
And what is expedition without problems? Just nothing big but something that
we forget that expedition too quickly.
- 1st night, day and 2nd night we had azimunt problem with hard wind and
automatic rotator wanted most of time that we work UA9 side but that was
quite silent QTF
- Linear blowed up 5 times, quite often we worked only with 50w during time
when fixed
- once bottle of beer fall down and power supply was quite wet and some
little short circuit
- when we was in countryside and 1st shop was 20km far away we had there so
much local moonshine that it was time to time main operator and all others
sleeped with open radios....
- and after that logbook also swim few times in moonshine and it will
be big work to translate what we are writtet...
So we had possibility to make double more qsos but we made what we made.
Anyway just driving back to St. Petersburg I made little plans for near
future with Alex RU1AS. We will test car expedition in Russian winter during
Quadrantids. Just one night trip to KO57 with random fsk441. But that I'll
inform later because we have still nearly 3 week time before we'll jump car
again.
Tks for all who worked or tryed to work with us!
