Perseids activity from JO39 from August 11 to 14, 2003
This year Ulli, DL3YEL, and myself will go to JO39, mainly for 2 m MS
operation, but will have 6 m equipment as well. We will use the callsign
LA0BY/p on 2 m and LA/DL3YEL on 6 m. The site in JO39PB is high up on the
mountains and will have reasonable horizon from E-SSW (and North - watch out
for Aurora). Best take-off is from 130-180 with 0 horizon. As there will
be no 230 V mains available we may have to operate with 180 W RF power only,
into 2 x 9-ele-yagis. Alternatively we may run about 500 W from Ulli's 8874
PA powered by generator.
We will stay on the frequency 144,188 MHz for both sked and random operation
in HSCW/SSB. In HSCW we will transmit with 1500 lpm, using 2,5 min periods
and the callsign will be abbreviated to LATBYP. In SSB we will use 1 min
periods with breaks every 10-15 s. We will transmit the second (odd) period.
For WSJT operation (only random outside the maximum) we will use 144,388
MHz. A special advise for WSJT: Make sure your QSO is complete. Those
callers which are continuously transmitting without respect to ongoing QSO's
will simply be ignored. Please watch your screen!
Random activity schedule:
Date UTC QTF Mode
12.8.2003 14 - 16 90-120 CW
12.8.2003 18 - 20 90-120 SSB
12.8.2003 20 - 22 120-150 SSB
12.8.2003 22 - 24 150-170 SSB
13.8.2003 00 - 02 170-190 SSB
13.8.2003 02 - 04 190-220 SSB
13.8.2003 04 - 06 160-190 SSB
13.8.2003 06 - 08 150-180 CW
13.8.2003 08 - 10 180-220 CW
13.8.2003 10 - 12 160-220 WSJT
We may operate random WSJT also at other times. And, of course, we will
always listen for possible tailenders after skeds.
On 6 m we will use the frequency 50,188 MHz. It is not sure how much we will
operate on 6 m, as the main focus will be on 2 m MS. We will monitor for
Sporadic-E. The equipment on 6 m will be 100 W and a 4-ele-yagi.
We have started taking 2 m skeds, preferably with distant or eastern
stations, but still some times left. Request may be send to [email protected].
We are not sure if the site will have GSM coverage, but if it has we may be
able to make DX-Cluster annonuncements.
The sked list is now on the website http://www.qsl.net/la0by/dxped.htm
