Actually it was LY2BIL-UA9FAD 12.08.1998 KO24OQ-LO88DA which makes 1939km.
According to the source I found from 1999 the claimed IARU region 1 record
is between SM3AKW-UA9FAD JO92AO-LO88DA 2141km. The source is
