Geoff, one can never take one or even a few e-mails of this sort
personally. One man's soup is another's... uh... shall we say, leftovers.

I think the problem is two-fold, however: as far as I know, you're the only
Australian poster and in fact, in the 10+ years I've subscribed to
meteor-scatter reflectors of various sorts, the ONLY Aussie poster. You're
a rare breed ;o) What you hear and post of from down-under may be of very
little interest to some others in other parts of the world since, of
course, what you observe will be of relatively-local interest; and vice
versa, of course. But unusual meteoric observations in any part of the
world should be of interest to ANY meteor scatter enthusiast, since any
"storm" can easily cover a wide area. In addition, meteor observers from
the southern hemisphere are quite uncommon: thus, there is little known
about how widespread some meteor storms may be.

The other problem, of course, pertains to the fact that almost all, if not
all, of the subscribers to this reflector are amateur radio enthusiasts,
more interested in utilizing meteor scatter for two-way communications
rather than the more-esoteric observation of meteor showers and storms.

May I suggest that you try the North American Meteor Network reflector? I
was a member of that group for some years and frequently posted my ham
meteor scatter observations. The group is primarily interested in visual
observation but there are a few dozen who also, or only, perform radio
observations. You can find out how to subscribe at the site:

Umm... gotta cut this short, we've got a lightning storm here....
