Hi Franz
Well just some observations from IO83 during the persieds
You will see from my qth that my beam direction will be from North East to
South
for the main activity.
It was impossible for me to try and make random qso's because many G
stations calling cq
in either 1st or 2nd periods even close PA stations were easily heard by
tropo.
I am sure other guys have the same problem so it would be interesting to
know what
the proposal to be put before the IARU consists of - for me the critical
point is
what calling frquency ???
144370 has seemed to become the " adopted " frequency but it is the best
choice???
If a CQ + or - system is adopted then i guess it is the best - but we are
then taking best part of
52 khz of space on 144 Mhz - I cant see the SSB users being too happy about
that!!!!!!!
Whatever the system it needs to be as simple as possible and OK if 26 Khz is
taken up by
random calling what about a section for skeds ??? I saw alot of stations on
the cluster
arranging skeds for 144370 this then creates qrm for everyone.
Just some thoughts- my vote would be clng freq 144360 CQ random A-Z +
to 144386 then
skeds in 144387-144400
But this all depends on the Bandplan being changed - a local radio club
near me has
its net frequency on 144370 which IS currently SSB portion of the band - so
we are
currently violating the " gentlemans agreement " anyway !!!
Oh one other thing - now that everyone has the WSJT and JT44 package why
not try JT 44
during the shower peaks it could be easy to complete with very good
reflections that would spread things out a little further !!!!
BETTER still use HSCW as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
9a4gl MSDSP is just as easy to use as WSJT - bursts can be slowed down to 5
wpm !!
That spreads things out even further hi hi hi!
Best Regards to all
