Yes, when you switch to JT44 mode, the Width resets from its default of 40
to 200!
And you're right - this is not good!
Best settings for me for most purposes (MS) are:
W>20
S>1
ST>-2
QRN=5
Tol=400
These are not the default, but are what normally work best for me.

Seems to. I had not run any MS skeds with V. 2 yet, so hadn't seen it.

Under good conditions, you should be able to work some of the bigger
stations. And conditions may be pretty good the next few days.
