Hi Jeff,

I saw a call for help in the MDC Section news today.

We had a very active point-to-point VHF packet net going here in Anne Arundel County for a few years. I ran into some equipment problems last year and haven’t fixed the problem yet. I’m hoping to square those issues away soon.

We used an application called “Outpost” packet message manager. There are several options for setting it up and it works well for point-to-point setups. It is pretty slick in that it can pretty much auto-configure based on the prompts it receives when connecting to a BBS. We were all using the built in mail box support on our TNC’s.

I really like Outpost as an alternative to Winlink, and it just seems more “ham” friendly. There are some great application notes on the website. Santa Clara County, CA uses this for their hospitals.

I’d be interested in connecting up with all of you as soon as I can get my stuff back on the air. I was connecting to a station up there some time ago from my house in in Odenton. I don’t recall the call sign, but it worked well.
