From ljfish1 at comcast.net Wed Aug 6 13:57:24 2014 From: ljfish1 at comcast.net (jeff) Date: Wed, 6 Aug 2014 13:57:24 -0400 Subject: [MDC-EC] Gran Fondo radio ops needed! Message-ID: <004701cfb19f$e2628ea0$a727abe0$@comcast.net> Frederick ARES and the Frederick Amateur Radio Club will again be providing communications support for the Gran Fondo Bike Race this year on August 24th. We need operators with a mobile or HT 2M rig willing to man the four checkpoints (timing stations) during this event. Operations will be the same as last year, and you can go to http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1363618 for the times and locations (click on the green icons). Plan on using either the MADXRA or FARG repeater systems. While Gran Fondo isn't a "non-profit" organization, we got a nice donation from them which was then donated to the MADXRA group for the maintenance of their repeater system. For the locations with longer hours, we will try and limit the shifts to 4 hours. As always, you don't have to be a member of ARES, FARC, or MADXRA - just a ham willing to lend a hand. Please let me know if you're available. Thanks. 73, Jeff Fishman KB3FIO FRED ARES EC From mdc-ec at mailman.qth.net Sun Aug 10 21:47:51 2014 From: mdc-ec at mailman.qth.net (Jim Montgomery via MDC-EC) Date: Sun, 10 Aug 2014 21:47:51 -0400 (EDT) Subject: [MDC-EC] 2014 SET Message-ID: <8D1831D6583F832-5B8-16CB7@webmail-vm035.sysops.aol.com> Hi Guys, It is never too early to plan for upcoming events, and the 2014 SET is no exception. Last year we did Hurricane Chessie coming up the Bay. This year I was thinking of starting in the western counties ending up on the Eastern Shore. Winter storms comes to mind. Off the beaten path for the moment. . .we have the SET in the Fall, so it seems likely we should drill for the near term weather events. So I am voting for snow storm. I am also contemplating using APRS to track a delivery of some kind between a couple of ARES groups. I think that would be fun and exciting to watch. It will be staggered as last year so all won't be playing all the time, unless you want to. However, I will take any suggestions if ya got one that would better suited for us. I'd like to hear from ya'll! I ran into John Ohm, W8IS, at the Berryville hamfest last weekend and he says he would staff up a MEMA team again to support out SET. Thanks John. I hope to have a planning session like we did last year, so standby for an update. tnx es 73, de Jim WB3KAS PRGE ARES EC From bill at n3tcr.us Tue Aug 19 19:15:23 2014 From: bill at n3tcr.us (Bill Reinhardt) Date: Tue, 19 Aug 2014 19:15:23 -0400 (EDT) Subject: [MDC-EC] Fwd: Re: RE: Fwd: Winlink RMS monitor alert -- WN3R-10 is down Message-ID: <1968362280.2045188.1408490123271.open-xchange@bosoxweb02.eigbox.net> FYI, for those within range of the WN3R-10 Winlink system.
