NWS HAS ISSUED A FLOOD WATCH FOR BALTIMORE COUNTY AND CENTRAL MARYLAND AND FREDERICK COUNTY THROUGH TUE, OCT 30, 8:00 pm

THE FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES FOR PORTIONS OF MARYLAND AND THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA FROM LATE SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY EVENING

SANDY IS PROJECTED TO MAKE LANDFALL LATE MONDAY SOMEWHERE
BETWEEN THE DELMARVA PENINSULA AND NORTHERN NEW JERSEY. HEAVY RAIN AHEAD AND NEAR THE STORM IS EXPECTED TO PRODUCE RAINFALL OF BETWEEN 5 AND 10 INCHES, WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE.

EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WI CAUSE CREEKS AND STREAMS TO RISE QUICKLY OUT OF THEIR BANKS AND FLOOD LOW LYING AND URBAN AREAS. MODERATE TO MAJOR FLOODING IS LIKELY ON SMALLER CREEKS AND STREAMS, WITH FLOODING EXPECTED ON THE LARGER MAINSTEM RIVERS FROM MIDWEEK ONWARD.
