the Wednesday following the third Monday of the month on 3820KHz at 1930L.
April 3: Held our Second Quarterly Hospital Drill. Eight hospitals and the
county health department from around the state participated and were
staffed with 15 radio operators: W9WNH and N3WYG at Bowie Health Center
(BHC); KB3KOW and KB3UYZ at Civista Medical Center, LaPlata (CMC); K3IVR
and WA3YTK at Doctors Community Hospital, Lanham (DCH); KB3IIE and KB3PEX
(guest) at Fort Washington Medical Center, Ft Washington (FWMC); K3MAD at
Frederick County Emergency Operations Center (F-EOC); KB3FIO at Frederick
Memorial Hospital, Frederick, MD (FMH); WI3N at Laurel Regional Hospital,
Laurel (LRH); KA3AHI and WB3KAS at Prince George’s County Emergency
Operations Center, W3PGC, Landover Hills (P-EOC); WB2IFS at Southern
Maryland Hospital Center, Clinton (SMHC). KA3AHI as the ARES IC, providing
instructions and directions for the drill and NX3SS as drill NCS from home.
April 7: AB3NA represented PRGE ARES at the Berwyn Heights Emergency
Response Drill at their Town Hall, providing communications where necessary
for CERT volunteers. April 12: PRGE ARES and RACES radio operators
participated in a state wide State Emergency Operations Center Exercise
centered around earthquake disaster response. PRGE EOC was staffed with
KB3IIE, W3WFM, WB3KAS and KA3AHI. The exercise planners asked KA3AHI to be
an evaluator for the exercise. Passed four pieces of Winlink traffic on
behalf of the County. Mr. Tyrone Wells, from Prince George’s County Office
of Homeland Security, NIMS and Planning Coordination Section Manager,
stopped by the P-EOC briefly to observe drill operations. April 21:

provided by ARRL and taught by KB3KOW and WB3KAS. April 26: PRGE ARES radio
operators participated in Exercise Sisyphus, the Air Show Disaster Response
drill with Andrews Air Force Base and local hospitals. It emphasized the
role of regional partners in the processes and decision making involved in
the management of a critical care medical surge in preparation for the
upcoming air show at Andrews. The primary reasons for this mass casualty
exercise is because Andrews holds an annual three day air show considered
to be one of the largest by the military. Operators included: WI3N and
AB3NA at Laurel Regional Hospital; KB3NJK and W3IVR at Doctors Community
Hospital; KA3AHI and WB3KAS at Southern Maryland Hospital Center. Autopatch
