Hi all,
As Steve indicated in the email he sent out, I'm the new Assistant SEC.
I've been a ham for 21 years and have spent a few years in the Fire Rescue and EMS service as well as with ARC Disaster Svcs. My focus in the section will be digital (Winlink) ops.
I am a Winlink sysop and currently run N7NMS-10 on VHF Packet and N7NMS-5 80M HF Winmor gateways. I have experimented with MT-63, Olivia, and other modes for EMCOM for the last year or so as well.
One of the first things I'd like to do is to get an idea on what each county is doing on the digital side (including if you haven't got started yet) and compile a spreadsheet that we can share with each other for operating freqs, Winlink Tactial Callsigns, county POS's etc.
I am asking that each EC appoint a POC for thier county for digital EMCOM even if you aren't doing any digital ops at this time. This will allow us to have a section wide list of folks to share ideas or get advice. Once I have things a little further along, I will setup a Yahoo group for everyone to share advice, ideas, and files.
I'm not and expert on everything digital so I know there are things I can learn from other folks in the section and that is what I'm trying to do... share knowledge.
Please provide me with the following info for your POC or POC's
Name:
Call:
Phone:
email:
If you know the Winlink capabilities of your county, that info is needed as well, I.E. RMS Packet stations, nodes, digipeaters, Winlink ops etc.
