Maryland-DC Section: I'm happy to announce that Mike Liller N7NMS is now an
Assistant SEC for Digital Communications. Mike has been a ham for 21 years
and has been a Red Cross Disaster Services member, Firefighter, and a
certified Rescue Tech with SAR training. He has experience with Winlink and
other Digital modes such as MT-63. Mike will help the MDC Section to
further develop its expertise in using digital modes in an EMCOMM role, and
to develop an approach for Digital communications throughout the Section.

Prince Georges County: Held five regularly scheduled training VHF nets, all
on Tuesdays. Received permission from the American Legion Southern Maryland
District to use the Southern Maryland District Youth Camp just south of
Clinton for ARES activities, with the stipulation that PRGE ARES provide
support to the Boy Scouts when called upon. Kenny Greenhouse, KB3IIE and
Bill Milligan, W3WFM are points of contact for this project. WI3N, KZ3AB
and KB3IIE were invited to The Maryland Black Mayors, Inc. retreat to
introduce to them what Amateur Radio can offer them in a localized
emergency. A follow-up meeting was held in Glenn Arden with KB3IIE to
discuss details of Amateur Radio support during a disaster. A future
meeting is planned in December with the North Brentwood, MD Mayor. Monthly
meeting changed from 2nd Tuesday to 3rd Mondays starting in November.

Cecil County: The Cecil County ARES group holds a weekly net every Sunday
evening at 2000 local on the WA3SFJ repeaters (146.850- PL 107.2, 449.825-
PL 167.9, and 53.830- PL94.8). Primary will be the 2-meter repeater. All
within earshot of the repeaters are invited to join in regardless of ARES
membership. Following the net we have a Swap Shop "net" where hams are
invited to list their ham-radio-related items for sale or trade.

traffic message handling. Following the presentation the group practiced
exchanging mock traffic. The Garrett County ARES net is held weekly on
Sunday evenings at 8:00 PM on the 146.805, dup PL 123 and is linked to the
Target Link Repeater System. All traffic is FM voice.

Howard County: On November 14th Howard County ARES supported the Columbia
