Comments:

Anne Arundel County: On July 4, ARES members WA2ILU, K3WD, N3SEO, K3TED,
KA2JAI, and K3YLW supported the July 4 Parade. On July 24, seventeen
Amateur Radio operators conducted a Tornado support exercise. The
participants were N3HKJ, KA2JAI, K3TED, KB3UDI, AB3AC, KI4RSE, N3WOF, W3NI,
KB3UDM, KA1FFO, WO2C, K3RSJ, AB3CL, KB3KWT, K3YLW, WB4APR, AND N3SEO. The
locations simulated two Reception Centers, two Shelters, two hospitals and
the EOC. The only repeaters required were the Packet Digipeaters. In three
hours, we arranged for transport of 166 clients from reception centers to
shelters, transport of 20 patients to hospitals, and requesting 270 lunches
and 150 additional cots for the shelters. Bob Bruninga set up the EOC
radios so we could see the location of all APRS transmitting stations on a
WEB map on the EOC computer. Fifty-seven messages were transmitted, which
is many more than we have ever transmitted during an actual emergency.

Garrett County: Mark Moynahan (K3EE) gave a presentation on his experiences
using Amateur radio during maritime emergencies. And K3EE's associate
William Zeisler (W2DLP) and WWII veteran visiting our meeting gave a
presentation on his use of Amateur radio during a medical emergency in
South America. W2DLP solicited assistance to have a patient flown from
South America to stateside. The Garrett County ARES net is held weekly on
Sunday evenings at 8:00 PM on the Outback Repeater System (primary repeater
146.805 dup PL 123) all traffic is FM voice. Our monthly meetings are held
on the 2nd Monday of the month at 7:00 PM at the Oakland Municipal Building
located on 3rd street across from the Pizza Hut.

Prince Georges County: Welcome aboard Jim Montgomery WB3KAS as the EC for
Prince Georges County! And a big Thank You to Dan Blasberg KA8YPY for his
efforts as EC over the years in building a first-rate ARES team in PRGE.
