Comments:

SEC Notes: Thanks Frank N3SEO for inviting me to speak with your ARES team 
on Saturday May 9, to discuss the MDC Section communications plans, 
preparedness, NIMS forms, and to demonstrate MT-63 and EasyPal. Met with 
the Carroll County wing of the Civil Air Patrol on Tuesday April 21 to 
discuss interoperability. SM Jim Cross WI3N was the guest speaker at the 
Maryland Army MARS meeting on Saturday April 25. The MDC Section hosted a 
webinar on Tuesday April 28 to brief participants across the country on the 
DC Council of Governments Tactical Interoperable Communications Plan.

Kent County: KARS had Equipment/Shelter drill on April 21, 2009 at 2000 hrs 
to 2030hrs. Had 3 shelters, Chester River Hospital, Health Dept, Delaware 
Back-up Station (Mobile) and EOC check in.  Passed 3 messages, received one 
reply. All went well.

Anne Arundel County: ARES members K8JW, KB3DCA, N3HKJ, KA2JAI, K3YLW & 
K3TED supported a triathlon.

Garrett County: Last month member Pam Viner (N3HFC) held a very well 
prepared and delivered message handling class for our members at our 
monthly meeting. The Garrett County ARES net is held weekly on Sunday 
evenings at 8:00 PM on the Outback Repeater System (primary repeaters 
146.805 and 145.33 dup PL 123) all traffic is FM voice. Our monthly 
meetings are held on the 2nd Monday of the month at 7:00 PM

Allegany County: Allegany supported two public service events -- Walk for 
Babies (March of Dimes) and the Mountain Maryland Marathon.

Calvert County: There are currently 8 students enrolled in the Technician 
license class being held in Calvert County.

Wicomico County:
·       Drill: Joint Wicomico County Race/ARES COMMEX Drill 4/14/09 at 
Wicomico County EOC.
·       Public Service: Sussex Hamfest public information table 4/409
·       Emergency Operations: Wicomico County activation RACES/ARES for 
Salisbury Festival 4/24/09
·       Local Net: Delmarva Amateur Radio Enhancement Net every Monday 
night at 9:00 p.m.  The DAR Net is sponsored by the Delmarva Amateur Radio 
Club which is now an ARRL Affiliated group operating a repeater on 146.820 
MHz PL 156.7 Hz.
·       Event Calendar:
o       May 8  Wicomico RACES/ARES leadership meeting with Lower Shore 
Chapter of the American Red Cross
o       May 12  MEMA sponsored RACES(ARES) COMMEX Drill
o       May 30  ARES/RACES training session using Wicomico County Mobile 
Command Vehicle (MC-1)
o       June 6  American Lung Association Bike Event
o       July 18  ARES/RACES training session located at the Peninsula 
Regional Medical Center Operations Room which includes a fixed Amateur 
Radio Position.

District of Columbia:
·       Spent a few hours planning for ARES/RACES recruiting during May
·       Planning to begin more active organizing for Washington DC 
ARES/RACES in May 2008.

Howard County: Howard County ARES supported an MS-Walk on Saturday April 
18, using the local CARA repeater. Participants included WR3F, KB3NCP, 
N3LDC, N3NFV, KB3WK, KB3SFU, K3UOD, and KB3QNA. Two of the participants 
were newly licensed hams who were paired with experienced operators for 
training purposes

Carroll County: Carroll County ARES supported an MS-Walk on Saturday April 
18. Participants included KB3LNM Joe Tracey, KF3AK Tony Krauth, WX3F Larry 
Solarczyk, W3JSE Jeff Edmonson, N3TOT Charles Cunningham, and WO3L Andy 
Leeds. This event gave the team an opportunity to practice with ICS-214 and 
ICS-309 forms. Carroll continues to experiment with MT-63, and has 
conducted several successful digital nets on the local K3PZN 2m repeater.
