Comments:
Carroll County: The group is working on detailed operating procedures for
equipment at the EOC. The HF Radio (Icom IC-756) operating procedure has
been completed, and a procedure for one of the VHF radios (Motorola
MCX-1000) has been drafted. The CARET Net is conducted every Tuesday
evening at 2030 Local on the CCARC 145.410 FM repeater. The net is open to
all hams.
Cecil County: The Cecil County ARES Net is conducted every Sunday evening
at 2000 local time on the Chesapeake Bay Radio Association (CBRA) 146.850
FM repeater (negative offset). Access tone is 107.2 but is required only
between 2100 and 0900 which means it is not required during the net. Our
backup is the CBRA 449.825 FM repeater (negative offset). Access tone is
167.9 and is required 24 hours. The net is open to all hams within range of
the repeater. ARES membership is encouraged but not required.
Garrett County: The Garrett County ARES net is held weekly on Sunday
evenings at 8:00 PM on the Outback Repeater System (primary repeaters
146.805 and 145.33 dup PL 123). All traffic is FM voice. Monthly meetings
are held on the 2nd Monday of the month at 7:00 PM.
Kent County: KARS had Equipment/Shelter drill on February 17th 2009, at
2000 hrs to 2030 hrs, Had 4 shelters, Chester River Hospital,
Heron Point and EOC check in. Passed 2 messages and checked Simplex
operation between all locations. All went well.
Wicomico County: Wicomico has a new EC - JC Taylor W3JCT. Welcome aboard!
On Saturday, March 21, there will be an Amateur Radio Emergency Service
(ARES) formation meeting to establish a partnership with Wicomico County
Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES). The formation of a local
ARES will allow local amateur radio operators to be more proactive in the
community. The formation meeting will be held at 10 am in Meeting Room 4 at
Wicomico County Library, which is located at 122 South Division Street in
Salisbury.
