Garrett County: At our last meeting the group performed a lessons learned
review of our Field Day exercise. Also Bill Shomo KB3FMJ gave a lecture and
demonstration on Automatic Position Reporting System (APRS). The meeting
was concluded with a briefing on amateur radio activities in the Southern
Baptist Disaster Relief organization by Joshua Frick KB3NNU. We would like
to recognize Ron Beeman N8YIB and Mac McNichols N3TGM for their time and
efforts restoring the communication link between the Garrett County
repeater and the Allegany County repeater as this link is key to our weekly
ARES nets. The Garrett County ARES net is held weekly on Sunday evenings at
8:00 PM on the Outback Repeater System (primary repeaters 146.805 and
145.33 dup PL 123). All traffic is FM voice. Our monthly meetings are held
on the 2nd Monday of the month at 7:00 PM

Wicomico County: Training: Joint ARES/RACES July 18 ARES/RACES training
session located at the Peninsula Regional Medical Center Operations Room
which includes a fixed Amateur Radio Position. The visit was very
successful. A number of the hospital employees would like Amateur Radio
training, which we will probably accomplish with the help of trainers from
the Peninsula Amateur Radio Operators Society (PROS). A number of
recommendations were given to PRMC to help with training and student
materials. Delmarva Emergency Net: Sundays at 6:30 PM using 3.905 MHz -
Primarily stations on the Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware Eastern Shore.
Bill Duveneck,KB3KYH, Net Control, Sussex County Emergency Coordinator,
Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) Local Net: Delmarva Amateur Radio
Enhancement Net every Monday night at 9:00 p.m. The DAR Net is sponsored
by the Delmarva Amateur Radio Club which is now an ARRL Affiliated group
operating a repeater on 146.820 MHz PL 156.7 Hz. Coming Events:
Re-scheduling tour of MC-1 Wicomico County Mobile Command no date yet.

Cecil County: We are looking for volunteers to help us support the North
East Maryland Triathlon taking place on Sunday, August 16. We have been
asked to watch the bicycle courses. There are two races going on
simultaneously one an Olympic length and the other a Sprint. There are a
lot of corners and hills where we have been asked to help guide the
bicyclists. Please e-mail me (kb3ljb at arrl dot net) if you would be
interested in helping us.

District of Columbia: Working with the Federal City React and ServeDC
(CERT). Began testing repeater coverage across downtown DC for possible
ARES use. Continuing discussion with fellow DC hams regarding possible ARES
repeaters. Beginning to work on preparations for the Marine Corps Marathon
event in October.

Carroll County: Carroll County ARES continues to test MT-63 and EasyPAL on
the local 145.410 repeater in Westminster. We're also making plans to
install some HF equipment at the County EOC. The ARES Net meets every
Tuesday evening, 8:30 PM on 145.410 MHz. Our group meets on the Fourth
Monday of each Month, 7:30 PM at the County Emergency Services Training Center.
