I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and that you=
and your
families are doing well.

Glenn Johnson, W=C3=98GJ, has been our Division representative on the ARRL<=
br>
Contest Advisory Committee. After a long involvement, he decided it was
time for him to step down and let someone else pick up the reins. I
sincerely thank him for his service to the CAC and to the ARRL.

After looking at possible appointees and reviewing them with Glenn and
the CAC Chair, Craig Thompson, K9CT, I selected Drew Vonada-Smith, K3PA,
to be the Midwest Division CAC representative.

Drew has been licensed since 1972. He is an active contester and a
member of the Kansas City Contest Club. Although contesting is his
first love, Drew is also a DXCC Honor Roll member. He lives in
Tonganoxie, KS, near Kansas City, with his wife, Denette.

Congratulations, Drew. Thanks for taking on this role for our
community.

As 2025 draws to a close, it is good to reflect on some of the good
things that the ARRL accomplished.
=E2=80=A2	On the Air Live was launched and was so successful that platforms=
needed to be expanded to accommodate all the attendees.
=E2=80=A2	The Youth Licensing Grant Program is very popular. From its laun=
ch
in 2022 to today, over 1,000 young people have had their FCC application
feeds reimbursed. Over 1,700 youths benefited from the $5 reduced VEC
fee.
=E2=80=A2	Over 1,200 students of teachers who graduated from the Teachers<b=
r>
Institute have taken license exams at no charge facilitated by the ARRL
Education and Learning Department.
=E2=80=A2	The Dream Station Sweepstakes was launched. While it is difficul=
t
to ascertain the impact on membership numbers, donations to the Diamond
Club have increased by 58%.
=E2=80=A2	The =E2=80=9CSalty Walt=E2=80=99s Portable Antenna Sketchbook=E2=
=80=9D and other new
titles have done very well in sales.
=E2=80=A2	ARES group locator map and webpage went live.
=E2=80=A2	The Midwest Division had a very successful Division Convention in=
Sedalia, MO. The event was supported, in part, by a grant from the ARRL
Foundation.
=E2=80=A2	The online magazines continue to be well received and there was a=
n
uptick in the number of members subscripting to print versions of those
magazines.
=E2=80=A2	VEC has been working to move all VE teams to electronic testing<b=
r>
using ExamTools.
=E2=80=A2	A strong effort, including a letter writing campaign, increased t=
he
chances of getting a law passed to help hams who are constrained by HOA
restrictions.

Let me close by wishing all of you a wonderful, healthy, prosperous, and
accomplished New Year. I=E2=80=99ll be on the air on SSB, FT8, FreeDV, and=
sometimes CW. I hope to get a chance to connect with you.
