Don't want to take a chance with your iPad; do you have an old phone sitting around? Maybe your an android guy, don't remember. But, if iphone, there's a tone generator app available that I was using about 10 years ago in the professional environment and it seems to still be available; at least I just checked and still on my current iphone. It has a volume slider which might help with your signal level; don't know.App's name: Tone generator But I see there are a multitude of apps on the iphone app store.MichaelOn Fri, Mar 28, 2025 at 7:40 AM Mike Stillwell <fixmyhouse1@gmail.com> wrote:______________________________________________________________Morning, thank you for your suggestion and I did try that and was having some problems which may have been on how I was hooking things up. Here’s the online tone generator I found. https://onlinetonegenerator.com/I was running it from my iPad through a set of headphones which I had attached to the radio microphone and so things were a little bit flaky in doing that. I think I might try using a phone jack that has open wires on the end and attached them to the microphone input, but I wanna make sure I don’t do anything to damage the iPad in the process. I’m trying to calibrate. The ALC function on the radio and I hope that this method might work. Originally, I found that the ALC adjusting potential was dirty and so I cleaned it with a drop of DeOxit which worked well. I want to check and make sure there’s no potential on the microphone input plug to the microphone input ground connector that might cause either damage to the iPad or pull the signal level that I need either up or down.Again, thanks for your suggestion.Sent from my iPadOn Mar 27, 2025, at 21:31, Farren Constable <farren@computershed.com> wrote:How about using the output of a sound card in a computer? I need a low signal of five mill volts as a starting point and obviously needs to be variable. Does anyone have one that I could borrow for a short period of time?
