How about using the output of a sound card in a computer?  MIght have to calibrate the signal with an o'scope to get the right amplitude.  I"ve seen software for generating all sorts of audio test signals.

I’m needing to borrow an audio generator to test the input on a SSB radio. I need a low signal of five mill volts as a starting point and obviously needs to be variable. Does anyone have one that I could borrow for a short period of time?
