Mike.... I got another email from the FCC this morning telling me that I
could go into their system and acquire a certificate showing the License, I
could not make any sense of their info. So I went into their help info and
their computers were on hold updating something. What a bad
organization it has turned into. ON the License plates, wonder if you
knew I was the one that got the state to print them? It was back over 20
years ago and I had a friend (lloyd Polson) in the legistrater part, and after
I told him about them he made it happen. The state called me at the
office to say "what color do you want them in?" Hee...Dennis
Just this past Monday, I went to the tag office here in NM county
to get new stickers for license plates. With the recent comms through this
group, I asked about the stickers. Here is what I was told. If you already
have a flat tag, then you can put the sticker on it. At this point in time,
embossed amateur plates are not being replaced at this time (at least my last
name group) and to put the sticker on. My ham plate may not be in as bad of
shape as Dennis's, but it's still showing its age. For those of us in the over
50 group, I find it hard to believe the state is having such a challenge with
license plates as for years of our driving experiences, one received a new
plate yearly. I would think these new flat plates that surely are somehow
connected to a computer system and surely running a looping production file
that's printing on plastic, would be a much faster and less human interaction
process to create thousands of new plates. Off my soapbox and my new stickers
are on the old plates.
To every one, I finally decided to call
the State about my plates, and they had now elimited the new ones, 5
years is a long time, mine are getting bent and defaced from use. But
now I put the new tags on the old ones. Now I just finished the
fascial of renewing my FCC license. I could not get over the details
of something so simple. It is not for older people! Best of luck
to anyone when your time comes to renew! I think of some of the older
people that do not have a computer, credit card, etc. One thing to be aware
of "all of the expiration, of time allowances", every thing you do is
allowed a certain time frame. "Good
Luck"
Dennis
