Just this past Monday, I went to the tag office here in NM county to get
new stickers for license plates. With the recent comms through this group,
I asked about the stickers. Here is what I was told. If you already have a
flat tag, then you can put the sticker on it. At this point in time,
embossed amateur plates are not being replaced at this time (at least my
last name group) and to put the sticker on. My ham plate may not be in as
bad of shape as Dennis's, but it's still showing its age. For those of us
in the over 50 group, I find it hard to believe the state is having such a
challenge with license plates as for years of our driving experiences, one
received a new plate yearly. I would think these new flat plates that
surely are somehow connected to a computer system and surely running a
looping production file that's printing on plastic, would be a much faster
and less human interaction process to create thousands of new plates. Off
my soapbox and my new stickers are on the old plates.
