Kansas Section News Summary February 2024

Operating outdoors in February seems to be a theme for some.

Kansas Antenna Club IN Johnson County participated in 
Antarctic Week from Kansas City Zoo. They usually try to 
be near the penguin house. And of course Jim, KB0MZF worked Italy.

Pilot Knob members froze their keys again during the annual
Freeze Your Keys at Weston Bend State Park across the river.
At set up the temp was 25 degrees Fahrenheit. About 2 dozen
people showed up, 119 contacts, some were DX.  
Martha, W0ERI brought chili and cornbread for lunch.

World Amateur Radio Day is celebrated each year on April 18.
This is similar to our Field Day but for the rest of the world.
Clubs and radio societies show emergency capabilities and make
the public aware of what Ham radio is all about. 
If your group does something for this event please let me know.
