For the record, this is not MCARC owned equipment. It belonged to the
Blue Valley Repeater Association which is defunct and has been for many
years. Doc Lyhanne, WB0YOP (SK), was the last president. I was vice
president at one time and Mike may have been the
secretary/treasurer/trustee (please advise, Mike). The MCARC repeater
is still here in my shack and awaiting completion of that project and is
not the equipment in question.
Between Mike and I we determined that Frank Parks, WB0KRO (SK) of
Overland Park, KS built the repeater RF decks and control unit for BVRA
in the mid 1980s. I recall it being installed and operational in the
spring of 1985. If what I remember being told is correct, the duplexer
was purchased with the original repeater unit in the mid to late 1970s.
The repeater is crystal controlled and the problem these days is that
few crystal manufacturers are left in business. One of the best,
International Crystal Manufacturing of Oklahoma City, closed its doors
several years ago.
I think if Vern can make use of it for the KSU club that is a better
disposition than leaving it sit unused. I vote yes.
73, Nate
