It’s the middle of summer and it feels like it. I usually think  of
winter as the indoor radio season but I’m considering July and August
might be worth adding We made it thru Field Day. From what I’ve been
told and read most everyone enjoyed the event.  I enjoyed seeing and
speaking with club members and participants from Leavenworth to Bonita,
with a spur over to Lawrence.

Summer continues and so do activities here in Kansas.
Reno County ARA is holding their  hamfest in August and our QSO party
takes place at the end of the month. Despite the heat there are also
some public service events taking place. I hope you will take part in
some of these functions whether social or operating.

Reno County ARA Hamfest is August 12 in Hutchinson at the Armory, 
1111 N. Severance St. Opens at 8AM, Free Admission, Kansas Networked

Ensor Fest 23: Celebrating 100 Years of Amateur Radio on the Ensor Farm,
will take place August 12 at the Ensor Museum  and Farm south of Olathe.
This is a joint City of Olathe and SFTARC event. Besides the Special
Event station and Morse Code Challenge there are many non-ham functions
taking place. A 1941 John Deer tractor will be operating, corn will be
run thru a sheller,  quilts will be displayed and more. A blue grass
band will be playing and KD0KLD’s Smokey Hill BBQ will be there.
Festivities kick-off late in the afternoon. For complete details see

Douglas Co. ARC participated with Lawrence Public Library’s
How-To-Festival. Approximately 100 entities demonstrated things as
diverse as CPR to crafts and health. The club fielded the usual
questions and explained what Amateur Radio is all about in todays world.
 Representing the club were: Matt, K0TOY;  Dean, KE0FFA; Bob, N0TFU;
Justin, KF0DAB and Jim, AC0KN.
