Kansas Section News Summary October 2022

Leaves cover the ground, the air is cold one day and hot the next.
We still have time to get the antenna system in order before it’s 
too cold to want to do it.

It’s the time of year we move the evening nets up one hour. 
Effective Sunday November 5th the Weather net will begin at 5 PM
followed by Sideband Traffic Net at 5:30. At the conclusion of the
Sideband Net, at NCS discretion, the Weather Net may reconvene and pick
up additional stations. Frequency remains the same, 3920 KHz or up 500
cycles to accommodate neighbors. This will be the schedule into spring.

MS bike ride-KC utilized nearly 5 dozen operators and 3 repeaters for
the annual event that has riders pedaling between Olathe and Lawrence.
Herb-NZ0F is the coordinator.

KCDX Club had a DX presentation by Scott, K0MD.

N0CS, Pete organized Harvey House on the Air event again this fall.

Pilot Knob ARC has been putting on Kit building programs for members.
They have held 3 sessions this year, each requiring more skill.

JCRAC holds a 40 meter SSB net Wednesdays after their Fusion net.
The Fusion net begins at 7P, start looking around 7273Kc at 7:30 or so.

You may have seen the INDEPENDENT NETS listed on here and the web page.
If you would like to have your club net shown please send me:
Number of Sessions called and the total number of check-ins for those
sessions.

From HQ:The ARRL Foundation will be awarding scholarships to High School
Seniors, College Undergrads and Graduates.  The scholarship amount
ranges from $500 to $25,000.  

Applicants must have a GPA of 2.0 or higher and have held an FCC amateur
license for at least one year. Applicants of any citizenship are
eligible. Deadline is January 4, 2023 at 12 PM Eastern Time.

Please consider any students you know who might be good candidates.
