Just a point of interest, if you would like to read something about the Hams and Pony Express. On the internet, "Ham Radio and the pony express: Providing Communications in remote areas".
About 15 years ago, when Kenny Martin (lived in Marysville), and was the "National Pony Express Association, President," came to me to see if I could have the Hams assist with their radios, to help in areas where there was no cell coverage. It would be important to have communications if there were some accident or other need for help. Of course, I said I would, and I worked to acquire interest in other states, as I could. I was disappointed the ARRL was not supporting us in any way! Now, as time has provided, most of the problems we have had, is to the point (in our area), to not need the communications aspect.
