N0RWB, Gary DeBey, Cawker City has become a Silent Key.

As the year comes to a close we often reflect on the events,
activities and people we encountered on the 12 month journey
leading to now. This is an opportunity for me to thank those 
operators that helped with the Kansas Section activities.
I’m including all the net participants and those that helped 
by filling in as net controls.

Sometimes we start the new year with a blank calendar ready to be
filled with hamfests, picnics, public service events and more.
I wish you a fun full calendar by this time next year.

V.O.T.A. Starts January 1 2023.
ARRL has a new year long operating event called Volunteers On The Air.
It celebrates our volunteers who make ARRL possible. It takes elements
of POTA and the Volunteer Appreciation week held years ago. Points are
awarded for levels of volunteers. Example, President K5UR is more points
than an Emergency Coordinator. This all is tied to Log Book of The World
which is required if you wish to participate fully. Below are a couple

In addition, Each state will have the opportunity for W1AW/Portable  on
the air in their state.  Kansas has an early period of Jan 18Z to Jan
24Z. We get it again in November.

Santa Fe Trail will be on the air for Kansas Day January 28 operating as
a Special Event station using KS0KS.

SFTARC members recognized.
Marty,KE0PEZ; Joe,KR0UT; Howard,N0AZ and Rick Nichols were among
volunteers recognized by city of Olathe at the Volunteer Appreciation
Night held at Embassy Suites in Olathe. 

N5ZMW-Garey of Hindsville, AR is the new Central States Traffic Net
manager. The net is held daily except Sunday on 7253.5 kHz at 12:30 PM.
Also known as Kadiddlehoppers or Kansas Post Office net to the OTs.

SHARC News: The Scott City 444.950 100.0 CTCSS is now linked to the 
Garden City 146.910 141.3 CTCSS repeater full time  via a RF link. 
Stephen-KD2AAD did some tower climbing to make it possible.
