I finished up repairing the two Kenwood supplies from Al’s collection. These were both in a state of disassembly.I had doubts if they were fixable (by me anyway). I had been thinking about them for sometime and thought it wastime for another look. I started with the what I thought was the better of the two, the PS-50. A zener and a transistor in the voltage regulation circuit was replaced along with a missing fuse fixed the problem. This is a heavy duty supply rated at 20 amp one hour continuous. The second supply, PS-430, in a more disassembled state, missing heatsink, upper half of the cabinet, fuse holders, and all fasteners. Fortunately I found the cabinet, heat sink with passtransistors in another box of stuff. This supply had a shorted pass transistor so I replaced both pass transistors with original PNs and fuse holders. The supply works as it should. The front panel had 3 of the four mounting points broken and some JB Weld and copper strap fixed it. I was able to scrounge metric and sheet metal screws necessaryto reassemble the supply. It also is in working condition and it is rated for 10 amp continuous, 15 amp at 50% duty, and 20 amp at 25% duty cycle.
These are both available. I will, most likely, want to keep one for the TS-440 that I bought from Dr Ryan when I get it running. If interested let me know.tnx AC0I Mike
