Subject: DXAC Appointment

It is my honor to announce the appointment of Udo Heinze, NI0G, as the
Midwest Division representative to the ARRL DX Advisory Committee.  Udo
is filling the position previously held by John Yodis, K2VV.  John
resigned after a long period of great service to the committee and to
the ARRL.  John was the chair of the committee.

Although John leaves some big shoes to fill, Udo is a very accomplished
DXer.  Here's a short bio:

Udo Heinze, NI0G, is currently president, Mississippi Valley DX- Contest
Club and has been a member of the club for at least the past 35 years.
Udo is an active contester and DX’er and has earned multiple DXCC
awards throughout the years. A brief summary of his DX Achievements
are:

    DXCC Honor Roll  - Number 1 position - mixed modes
    DXCC Honor Roll - CW
    DXCC Honor Roll - Phone
    DXCC Honor Roll - Digital
    160 mtrs DXCC Total - 220 countries
    6 mtrs DXCC Total - 84 countries

His overall DX Challenge Status currently stands at 2893.

Udo was first licensed in 1964. He retired several years ago from the
utilities industry.

He is active on the air from his well equipped station, with 2 large
towers and beams for 20 through 6 mtrs including the WARC bands. He is
active on all bands 160 through 2 meters. Udo is also a QSL Sorter for
the “ZERO Bureau” which is run by the MVDXCC.

Congratulations, Udo.  And thanks to our Vice Director, Dave Propper,
K2DP, for nominating Udo.

I hope you all have a safe and fun 4th of July.  We are actually going
to spend time with friends enjoying dinner and fireworks.  Last year at
this time, that seemed hardly possible.
