Subject: An end of year note

Another “strange” year is passing.  We thought we were phasing out
the pandemic but it resurged.  Things did open up a bit, however.  I was
able to visit a few hamfests and meet with a lot of good people.  I’m
grateful for that.  

A reminder, Vice Director Dave Propper, K2DP, and I are available to
make presentations via Zoom even if we aren’t able to physically
attend your club meetings.  

As Christmas approaches, I hope, whatever your faith, that you have had
and will have a wonderful holiday season.  This is a time for family and
friends.  We’re lucky as hams since our friendships transcend space
and occasionally time.  In a troubled world, we share a few moments of
peace in wishing our world-wide community of friends well.

A small piece of business.  I’d like to put together our next
newsletter based on stories about your ham activities over the past
year, other than Field Day (we covered that).  Please send me stories
about what you did that was special or maybe about what your club did
that pleased you.  I would be especially interested in how you did in
recruiting new hams and in getting them active.  I’d also appreciate
your thoughts about what is right with ham radio and what we can do to
improve our hobby and public service.  Your submissions would be much
appreciated.  You can send your contributions to me at k0aiz at arrl.org.

I thank you for the chance to serve as Division Director.  Your emails
with questions, suggestions, criticisms, are important to me.  It is
especially pleasing when I can resolve a problem or get people in touch
with someone who can.

Writing for Vice Director Dave and me, we wish you and your families a
wonderful holiday season and we hope that the New Year brings freedom
from the pandemic, prosperity, and great joy.
