Hi All!

Farren and I met with Rick from Blue Vally Tech this afternoon and
installed the repeater at the cable TV tower site. Coverage seems very
good. Ken, AK0A was into it Q5 from the Washington/Republic county line
this afternoon. As we went home Farren had good coverage through Blue
Rapids to within a mile of his place. Ken was solid from downtown
Frankfort and Q5 with a slight bit of flutter from the Robidoux Creek
bridge west of the K 99/US 36 junction.

That is the good news. The bad news is that the Internet is not working
well. The cable modem on site may be bad as I am seeing a lot of
latency logging into it remotely and ping times to the router on that
LAN segment are erratic and vary from 9 milli-seconds to over 7 seconds!
As a consequence, the AllStar link is not stable at this time.

I am confident that Farren and I will get it resolved as I think we have
a winner.

Do get on and make some calls. I know schedules don't always mesh well
and for a few of us we're busy most of the day, but the repeater is
there to be used. It is 444.350 MHz with a + 5 MHz offset and a tone of
88.5 Hz. It is still making voice announcements at the top of each hour
and an occasional announcement at the bottom of each hour. These can be
used as a sort of range beacon when you're out and about.

One thing I'd like to see us do is some kind of a tech net or question
and answer net some night of the week to gin up some activity. Other
suggestions are welcome! Again, this is an open repeater available to
all radio amateurs Tech class and higher.

73, Nate
