Do you mean the SS9000?  It listed for $2795 and debuted in 1982:

The SB-104 was probably still available.  The first Heathkit catalog I
got was in 1981 and still had the HW-101 as I recall.  It looked
positively ancient compared to the offerings from Kenwood, et. al. at
that time.
