The mayor of Blue Rapids called me today on different subject so while he was on the phone I asked him who owns the tower. He does not know and there really isn’t much reason that he would or should. I explained our interest in the tower and he offered to find out but I told him not to put too much effort into it just yet.

For what it is worth, our mayor is a retired Army full bird Colonel with an interest in amateur radio. If we were able to put a repeater south of town that might be just the thing to motivate him to get licensed. I explained to him that we used to have a packet station at that site and that Mike Minihan and I had climbed that tower some 20-25 years ago. I think he would be willing to work with us if we want to pursue the matter.

I don’t know the answer to the cabinet question but would moving the cabinet at Home City to the BR site a possibility? Home City doesn’t seen to want us there anyway.

Dave
