No doubt about it, this was a different spring.
Covid-19 virus disrupted and changed our lives for a very long time to
come. Our club meetings, breakfasts’ and hamfests came to a halt. But
we found workarounds for socializing in person in the form of video
internet gatherings. In fact video meetings became very popular for many
clubs. Oh sure, you could have used the radio but where’s the fun in
that. At this point in time the virus is still affecting us and we’ll
simply need to adjust how we conduct our Amateur Radio lives.  On the
bright side, propagation for the short waves has become much better
easing the discomfort of being home more.

The Kansas City VBC-Virtual Breakfast Club started by NZ0F in March to
replace the in person gathering halted by the Covid virus had
approximately 3 dozen check-ins at its peak. As operators returned to
work the QNI went down. The net has now scaled back to twice weekly. 

Our weather and traffic nets saw some additional check-ins during the
virus shutdown period.

KD0VQO’s Son, Rick Nichols did an article on Santa Fe Trail operating
WW1USA to commemorate the Paris peace conference. The item was published
in the Gardner newspaper.
