Kansas Section News Summary September 2019

KF0PN- Myron Steinert of New Strawn is now a Silent Key.

I recently appointed Jack Di Palo-WZ1Y of Leawood as our Section Youth
Coordinator. He is a Blue Valley Student and active in DX as well as
contesting.

Richard-K0RCJ is now Net Manager for Kansas Sideband Net and Kansas
Phone Net. Reports should be sent to him starting with November work. 

Due to winter propagation we are moving the evening Section nets up one
hour. Effective November 4th the Weather net will begin at 5PM followed
by Sideband Net at 5:30 and at the conclusion of the Sideband Net the
Weather Net will reconvene and pick up additional stations. Frequency
remains the same, 3920KHz or up 500 cycles to accommodate neighbors.    
We expect this schedule to continue into February.

Pilot Knob and Wichita ARCs Participated with Harvey Houses On The Air
Special Event. Pilot Knob ARC set up at Fred Harvey’s home in
Leavenworth and used W0H as their call sign. They even had a visit from
the Harvey Girls. Pete-W0CCJ coordinated PKARC’s effort. Down line in
Wichita, WARC secured permission to operate from the Great Plains
Railroad Museum across the road from the Union Station. The radio
station was set up on the railroad bridge over Douglas Street. They used
club call W0SOE. It’s not often we can operate with a steam engine on
one side and a Diesel on the other. The steamer held up the antenna!

Jackson ARC Swapfest November 16th at National Guard armory  1008 W 4th
St Holton, KS.  Opens at 8AM. Biscuits & Gravy and Lunch available. TI

Reno Co. ARA held a hamfest at Hutchinson. Our Director-K0DAS  drove
down from Iowa and spoke during the meeting.

Western Kansas 160M Net invites your check-in. Tuesday evenings 9pm
central time\8pm mountain time on 1.960 MHz LSB. This net has check-ins
from many states. Matt-KD0EZS looks forward to your call.

Kansas Slow Speed Net is held Mondays at 7:30 on or near 3547 KHz. Our
host is WD0ESF- Mike in Medicine Lodge.
