N0QMB-Jim Lasseter of Spring Hill is now a Silent Key

Our annual gathering is this weekend at Salina.
Hosted by Central Kansas ARC, the Kansas Amateur Radio Convention is
Sunday August 20th at Webster Conference Center. Exit I-70 at Ohio St
and turn North. ARRL meetings start at 9:05 and the WX Net Gang will
have a meeting afterwards. Dont miss the QLF Challenge during the noon
hour. Talk in on the W0CY Repeater 147.030+ 118.8 CTCSS. More info and

Our Kansas QSO Party-contest-will be held the weekend of August 26-27,
Saturday 9A to 9P and Sunday 9A to 3P. There are plaques and awards
available. If you just want to hand out contacts thats fine too.

K0ASA Crown Amateur Radio Association will operate Pony Express Special
Event Station Sunday August 27 from Hollenbeck State Historic Site. They
will try to be near 18.085 14.245 14.045. Locals can try 7.045 around
11AM and 2PM.
South East Kansas ARC held their July meeting at Crawford County
Historical Museum. Members set up simple antennas they had built.
John-AD0KA worked Las Vegas on 6 meters with his.
Santa Fe Trail hosted WW1USA for Battle of Passchendaele.
KD0AZJ-Dave gave an Echo Link presentation at M.A.A.R.S. meeting.
M.A.A.R.S. members participated in a joint exercise with 3 other
groups.
Sand Hills ARC picnic will be Saturday Sept. 16th at Scott City.
Field Day Wrap Up
Wichita ARC obtained a proclamation from the city of Wichita designating
the week leading up to Field Day as Amateur Radio Week. S.E.K. ARC held
Field Day at Big Brutus in West Mineral. Not a lot of trees there but
the countys portable tower helped the club get antennas up in the air.
Iola ARC operated at the QTH of KD0GHA in La Harpe. They had fans ready
but didn’t need them because this was some of the best Field Day
weather in recent memory.
