Just a tidbit of info relative to Marconi and his transatlantic 1st QSO, I 
had the privilege of visiting with one of the shipyard mast builders in 
Great Britain that supplied the antenna masts for Marconi.  He was in 
attendance at a Ham meeting of the SouthEast Nebraska Radio Club at 
Steinauer, NE., Father Wagaman's Church house in about 1955.  I was 
President of the Club at that time,
Junior or Senior in High School.
