Subject: personal message from k0ip about life time ham licenses
Hello , this is a personal message, from k0ip, Please send in a comment about this Rule Making.
its your hobby, don't sit and bitch , do something. Reading 5 or 10 comments already filed might help
tune-up your creative writing skills. the entire process might take 30 minutes.
RM-11760 is a filing about making the amateur license a life time , i.e. NO expiring date, license.
on the surface this might sound like a good deal, but like lots of good ideas, it might not be so good down the road ??
you ask "whats in it for me". For some of us nothing, for some of you that someday might want
one of these juicy 1 x 2 call signs, it means everything.
Those 1 x 2's are hard to get, in fact almost impossible, someone has to die.!!
the only official way the FCC knows someone is deceased or isn't interested in Ham Radio anymore
is if their license isn't renewed. a life time license would really cut down on the availability of vanity calls.
and think about the FCC call sign database it will be useless. Billions and Billons of calls not being used
also the FCC has used a trick to rid the airways of bad apples,, when their license comes up for
renewal, they just refuse to renew it .. This has, in actual fact, gotten rid of many idiots ,
they won't have this tool if its a life time license.
for me RM11760 is just another attempt to Dumb Down ,,
SO WHAT TO DO, click this link
http://apps.fcc.gov/ecfs/proceeding/view?name=RM-11760
you can read comments by clicking on the BLUE circle next to their names,
many of these guys are just lazy and WELL, whats in it for them is not having to push a few
buttons every 10 years.
to leave comments
1. you need to use your word processor and make a document, a document with your comments.
they use all sorts of file types, things like Note Pad, word, pdf, WP, will work
preferably save it as a TXT file. Trick: know where you saved it on your hard disk. you need to find it later.
NOW, go to the left side of the page, click on "Submit a Filing" 4th one down
fill in the blanks with a RED *, you can leave your email too. forget the rest
at the bottom , use the BROWSE button, attach your document file, then
the Continue button.
on the next page
click the confirm button your done
