Kansas Section News Summary June-July 2016

KBØLVJ - Carla Scheller of Marysville is now a Silent Key.
Our annual gathering is this weekend at Salina.
August 21 is the Kansas Convention hosted by Central Kansas
ARC at Webster Conference Center. Exit I-70 at Ohio St and
turn North. ARRL meetings begin at 9AM. Other forums include
Propagation Software and Digital Contesting. Want to know more
about the K-LINK repeater system ? The WX Net Gang will have
a meeting, and don’t miss the QLF Left Foot Challenge during
the noon hour. Talk in on the W0CY Repeater 147.030+ now
requiring 118.8 CTCSS. More info and schedule can be found here:

Our Kansas QSO Party-contest-will be held the weekend of August 27-28
Saturday 9A to 9P and Sunday 9A to 3P. There are plaques and awards
available. There are still some orphan counties in the Southwest if you
would like to do a road trip. http://www.ksqsoparty.org
K0ASA Crown Amateur Radio Association will operate the Pony Express
Special Event Station Sunday August 28 from Hollenbeck State Historic
site near Hanover,KS. Emphasis is placed on CW. They will be on 7045
KHz at 11AM and 2PM to give locals an opportunity and 14.045 14.245

In July Santa Fe Trail sponsored WW1USA for Battle of the Somme.
K0RCJ made Public Service Honor Roll in both May and June.
WX0U provided Emporia ARS members with a program on SWR and how
it affects signals in coaxial cable.
In the middle of July Shirley Hall-KE0DSW and Larry Hall-KD0RIU
Assisted Wayne-KE0IGZ of Lees Summit, MO paddle his Kayak 340 miles
from KC to St. Louis in the MR340 race down the Missouri River.
Shirley Hall-KE0DSW and Larry Hall-KD0RIU participated with
Wayne by providing ground crew functions during the race.
They kept in touch using 2 Meters and 70CM during the 4 days,
or 58 hours on the water.
QKS-SS Slow Speed Net has been meeting thru the summer on 3.547MHz
