VE Examiners and License Candidates,
This is information for the November 13 VE Amateur Radio examination at
Novato Community Hospital, Rowland Way, Novato. CA. Please arrive a little
early (12:30PM) to help us set up. The exams are scheduled at 1:00pm and
2:00pm and we should be done by 3:30pm. Due to the pandemic, the
examination will be held outdoors in a parking lot adjacent to the Novato
Community Hospital. If the weather is warm, please expect strong sun, and no
shade. Dress with long-sleeve shirts, wear a sun hat and bring sun
protection. Also, a mask and nitrile gloves are required. If you have
small folding tables such as TV trays and small folding chairs please bring
them for use by candidates to take the test. Please take care of personal
needs before arriving as there are no public facilities at the parking lot.

Three tents are set up in a line, and cars are asked to park in the row in
front of the tents. The tents contain tables and chairs where the VE
Examiners sit to grade the tests.

We will ask candidates to park their cars in a row and will give them the
FCC application which they can fill out in their car. We will ask them to
sit in chairs in front of their cars to take the examination. When they are
finished, they are asked to raise their hand to signal they are done, and we
will send someone over to pick up the paperwork. The candidates remain in
their cars. The tests will be graded and they will be informed whether they
passed the exam, and the number of correct answers found on the exam.
Before they leave, please make sure they have received a CSCE document.

Several have asked if they can take more than one element (technician,
general, extra). We will do our best, but this is our first experience with
conducting the exam outdoors and there are a number of variables that may
interfere with our ability to accommodate their request. Most are scheduled
in advance to take the test at 1:00pm and a second exam at 2:00pm.

Those who have an Amateur license or CSCE certificate(s), are asked to bring
a printed copy of the document(s) so that we can submit it with their
application. We cannot submit an application without copies of existing
licenses (if any).

Novato Community Hospital is located at the end of Rowland Way in Novato.
Take the Rowland Way exit from Highway 101 and bear west. Rowland Way takes
an abrupt left-hand turn at the second stop light after leaving the freeway
(look for a gas station). Follow Rowland to the Novato Community Hospital
at the end of Rowland Way. The parking lot is circled in red below.

As always to everyone, Good Success!
