Please pass the word, and post on Next Door or other neighborhood connection
resources. Thank you!
Have you been thinking of a project for which you never seem to have time to
prepare? With extra time at home, perhaps now is an ideal time to take up a
new challenge, perhaps to fulfill that dream, to obtain your Amateur Radio
license. In addition to filling out a simple form, passing a test of basic
radio technology is all that is needed.
Here is a chance to take a fresh look at a new world! There is no age
limit, all are welcome! Due to the present conditions you can prepare from
your home using the Internet. The Technician License study manual we
recommend is posted on-line and is available at no charge from
www.ad7fo.com.
The Amateur license is issued by the FCC (Federal Communications Commission)
by qualifying through a 35-word multiple choice examination. Preparing for
the exam introduces you to various topics in Amateur Radio and reveals the
magic of communications: the use of invisible waves to reach around the
world! Knowledge of Morse code is no longer required, and modern radios are
small, affordable and convenient.
The next license exam is tentatively scheduled at the Novato Community
Hospital in Novato on Saturday, May 8th. Also, exams are scheduled
quarterly throughout the year.
If you are interested, please contact Bill Smith, info at k6bw.org. Don't
forget to let your friends and neighbors know, pass the word!
We hope to meet all of you on May 8th.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Bill, AB6MT
