The Hamilton Wireless Association's second quarterly field exercise this
year will be conducted on-air Saturday June 20 from 10:00am-12:00noon.  This
exercise will involve a number of stations who will activate their
cross-band transceivers and will demonstrate the capabilities of cross-band
to establish communications in areas that are otherwise difficult to reach
by radio in our hilly Marin County terrain.

Cross Band stations will be established in various areas in order to provide
local communications and at the same time extend the range of the K6BW
Channel 5 repeater.  While the Channel 5 repeater will be used in this
exercise, highly mobile cross-band repeaters are capable of supporting
handheld receivers by extending range and enabling communications without
dependence upon any permanent infrastructure.

The primary goal of this exercise is to demonstrate that amateurs who have
equipped their stations with cross-band capability can configure and
mobilize their radios in a group effort.  We would like to invite all
amateur stations to participate by checking into Channel 5, then adjusting
their hand-held radios to work on the cross-band frequencies and ask for
radio checks during the exercise.  Set up your transceiver by referring to
instructions below.

All the K6BW repeaters will be active during the exercise.
In addition, the following stations may have cross-band repeaters active:

San Rafael  	- Bill, AB6MT
Peacock Gap 	- John, KN6FXG
Novato 	- Ken, AB6JR
Novato 	- Sharon, KJ6IBU
Pacheco Valley - Michael, KM6GME
Fairfax		- Jim, KI6WWY
Corte Madera	- Curtiss, KI6GUY
Mill Valley         - use cross band frequency 438.300 MHz, with a PL=100
instead of 438.350 MHz.

Tiburon 	- Mike Parodi qualified last weekend for his Technician
license, but a call sign has not yet been issued by the FCC.  He will be
monitoring.

Technical Details:

(1)	Settings for the K6BW San Anselmo repeater are not affected.  Use
146.775 (-) PL 127.3 (normal setting for Channel 5).  Signals from Channel 5
will be automatically relayed by cross-band stations.
(2)	Set 438.350 MHz simplex as Channel 15 in your transceiver.  Change
to this channel to access a cross-band repeater. Single receive transceivers
(such as a Yaesu FT-60R) will function with this setting.
(3)	If you have a dual-receive hand-held (such as a Baofeng UV-82L), set
146.175 MHz simplex as Channel 16 in the transceiver.  Change the upper
display to Channel 15, and the lower display to 16.  Always transmit using
438.350 (channel 15) to the cross-band station.
