If you know a friend or associate who is interested in obtaining a radio
license and training in emergency communications, please forward this
information.  We ask each to have graduated from CERT training or commit to
taking the CERT program training in the immediate future.   Of course MMRC
volunteers are also welcome.

 

For those of you who have not yet obtained your Amateur Radio license, its
not too late to sign up for the February 8 CERT Radio license class.  We
offer the License Class in conjunction with a four-session Communications
Class as an independent extension to CERT (Community Emergency Response
Training).  In the event of a disaster, a widespread emergency radio network
can play an important part of a neighborhood response.  Please consider
joining the network.

 

Once you obtain your Amateur Radio license, we ask you to purchase a two-way
radio.  Cost of the radio ranges between $125 and $180.  Our recommended
radio is in the $180 range.  Communication classes are conducted on an
ongoing basis to assist you with using your radio.  We also practice each
week for a half hour in an exercise in which you can participate from your
home.

 

The cost of the license class is $25.  Pre-registration is required.  Please
