To all CERT Radio members from Marjorie Schwier, KI6YKY.

One of the objectives of CERT Radio for this fall is to complete testing
a number of locations for radio reception and transmission throughout Marin.
The results of the tests will be compiled in a report and recorded on maps.
The project is to be completed by the end of October.

We are very excited about the ability to map tested radio connections. The maps
will be available to all HWA and CERT Radio members, as well as other groups
and individuals interested in the use of amateur radio in a disaster.

Two areas have been tested and recorded on maps-the most recent CERT
Radio test was in West Marin and included Bolinas, Stinson Beach, Point Reyes
and a location above Walker Creek Ranch. An earlier map, prepared by Skip
Fedanzo KJ6ARL, is also available to be included in our report and series of maps.
This test included Corte Madera, Mill Valley, Sausalito and Tiburon.

Some of you participated in both tests, and I think would agree they were
interesting, stimulated ideas, and were fun. They were also good practice
for using our radios in unfamiliar settings, and making adjustments to found
		conditions.

The final two tests are to be held in San Rafael on Saturday, September 22,
from 0800 to 1200 hours, and in Novato on Monday, October 1, from 0800
to 1200 hours. VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED FOR BOTH DAYS.

Operators will work in teams of two to test designated locations.
Each team will consist of one operator and one scribe. The tasks
can be traded so each member has an opportunity to do both.

Please let us know if you can help-we think you will find it an exciting exercise!

Detailed information will be available as soon as we know how many volunteers
		will be able to participate.

Bill Smith has asked Vivian Cohen, KI6MZI, and me, Marjorie Schwier, KI6YKY,
to complete the planning for the tests, and coordinate volunteer involvement.

We look forward to working with you on this project.
